Last night a few of my friends tried reviving these really shoddily-built go-karts that some graduate students built. They’re made out of 2x4s and lawnmower engines. They’re very poorly built and have terrible handling, and one of them lost control and flipped over.  The chain that connects the engine to the rear axle broke, and you can see the place where the link popped off in this picture.
